Care & Maintenance

At Camelot, our furniture pieces are handcrafted using natural materials such as solid wood, natural stones & cane. Each piece is unique, with its own variations in grain, texture, and finish. These natural variations are inherent to the materials and are not considered defects.

To ensure your furniture lasts beautifully for years, we recommend the following care and handling guidelines:

General Use

  • All our furniture is designed for indoor use only, unless clearly specified otherwise.

  • Avoid dragging or pushing heavy pieces, as this can weaken the joints. Always lift when moving furniture.

  • Do not place extremely heavy or sharp objects directly on surfaces without protective padding.

  • Avoid leaning backwards or forwards on two legs of a chair, as this will weaken the joints.

  • Avoid standing on rattan/cane seats, as this can weaken the weave and lead to sagging, tearing and breakage of the seat.

  • Avoid placing wet, cold or hot dishes directly on solid wood surfaces. We recommend also using coasters and trivets.

Placement & Environment

  • Keep furniture away from direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure may cause fading, warping, or cracking.

  • Avoid placing pieces near heat sources (radiators, fireplaces) or in areas with extreme cold.

  • High humidity or damp environments can cause swelling, mildew, or cane sagging. Use furniture only in well-ventilated indoor spaces.

Cleaning & Care

  • Wood surfaces: Wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners, detergents, or abrasives.

  • Cane surfaces: Dust regularly with a soft brush or vacuum (with a soft nozzle). For sagging due to humidity, allow the cane to dry completely, naturally.

  • Spills: Blot immediately with a clean, dry white cloth to prevent staining or water marks. If a stain persists, kindly connect with a local cry cleaner to best assist with removal and cleaning.

  • Glass or mirrored panels should be cleaned using a non solvent based glass cleaner and soft cloth, carefully avoiding any contact with any wooden, polished or painted sections.

  • Do not use chemical polishes, sprays, or silicone-based cleaners unless specifically recommended for wood.

  • If your furniture is stained, scratched, chipped or suffers other damage during use, we recommend hiring a local carpenter and polish team to restore your piece. We are available on email and phone to guide them, if required.

Natural Variations

  • Wood and cane are natural materials that respond to their environment. Minor movement, expansion, or contraction may occur over time - this is natural and not a defect.

  • Each piece will vary slightly in colour, grain, and texture, making it truly one of a kind.
